Work on theoretical and descriptive linguistics
I worked at UCL from 1964 to 2004 as a linguist (what I’d prefer to call a ‘linguistician’ to avoid misunderstanding). During that time I taught undergraduates and PhD students and did research on the theory of language structure. My brainchild is a theory called Word Grammar.
Since retirement my research has continued, but I’ve combined it with a great deal more work on education.
