Trends in uptake of Linguistics

The following data come from HESA, and include all UK universities (including Scotland).

Note:

  • The big jump between 2014 and 2015 presumably reflects a change in the way in which students are counted or classified, but isn’t explained by HESA.
  • The overall trend is a persistent rise in undergraduate linguistics numbers, but the fall in 2018 and 2019 may signal a change in this trend.
